Tell us about your business.
I am a licensed social worker providing psychotherapy services to adults. I work collaboratively with my clients from a relational, dynamic framework to manage their conflicts and challenges. I support clients to access their emotions, feel understood and develop self-awareness to experience more fulfillment in their lives.
What do you feel you offer that some of your competitors may not?
I am queer-affirming therapist who works predominantly with individuals in the LGBTQ* communities. I also specialize in working with men on identity-development and self-compassion.
Do you live in the Fishtown area (Fishtown and its surrounding neighborhoods) as well? What do you like as a resident?
Not currently, but I am considering it when my lease is up in September.
What do you like about working and (if you do) running a business in this area?
I like that Fishtown is growing and changing. It is great to be a part of that development. As a social worker I am cognizant of the psycho-social impact of gentrification and respect how that affects locals and families who have historic ties to the area.
What do you think are the advantages that business owners have in the Fishtown area?
There is a lot of new energy and creativity happening in the area. There are opportunities to seize while it’s still up and coming.
What obstacles do we as a business community need to overcome?
What are two (or three) of your favorite businesses in the neighborhood and why?
Milkcrate Cafe because I love coffee and they’re right by my office. Threshold Wellness because that’s where my office is and the owner, Julia Taylor, is creating a truly unique and holistic place for people to heal and be well.
